we're slowly finding our way back into the sunlight after spending several days locked away. hermits, you might call us. hermits with germs. i think the knock on our door yesterday was not only for a pizza party invite for friday, but to casually see if we were okay. zero activity has passed through our doorway and not as much as a squeak has echoed through our walls. we've been still. quiet. busy watching movies. eating ice cream. and spending our afternoons, all four of us, snuggled on our one love seat.
i squinted a little as we stepped outside into the sunlight today, a little afraid i'd melt. we eeked our way down the sidewalk for a leisurely stroll, just to make sure our legs still worked and that the world continued to spin. yup, all was good. we stopped for a play date in the playroom on our way back up and stayed well into nap time. two little dancing girls, newly befriended, can not easily be rushed.
our tennessee friend was coming over for dinner tonight, so i needed to be ready. i shooed away any thoughts of flu bugs or allergies {whichever they were} and readied the house for company. with hardly a wink's eye of sleep last night, i popped a few tylenol and was feeling [almost] close to chipper.
it's amazing how the Lord readies a situation even if you feel a little discombobulated. He calmed the air. He prepared my heart. He had everything set. we had the best time visiting over tacos. laughing over brownies. contemplating world issues over our hot coffee {coffee kind of makes a mood more serious, no?}. what a blessing, once again, to warm our house with friendship. to be reminded that it doesn't take much to share grace around a dinner table.
