the power of a good day.

i didn't think sunday could really get any better on the scale of family fun days, but monday came and topped the expectations well above their point of perfection. unfortunately, days like those always bring one disappointment. back to work the next day. the fuzzy feelings of contentment are plagued by a sounding alarm, feet hitting the floor entirely too early and me wanting to punch the morning in the face with one solid swing. a bit too hostile? if only morning had a face.

with the hubby skipping off to work in his usual way this morning, i'm left with happy thoughts of our weekend together. yesterday was bliss. it seriously felt like we were on a mini-vaca' as we left the house all day. at my feet in the car, i had a packed bag of goodies and lunch, juice and water, a mini first aid kit and makeup bag (we were going to dinner later at friend's - my vanity got the better of me). i was set for our big adventures.

it started well. i had my follow-up at the dental office, leaving an office of one perplexed, yet fascinated, doctor. i do that with doctors. leave them stunned. perplexed. something i've dealt with for almost 28 years (gulp!) puts them in a frenzy of research and questions. sometimes i have answers. sometimes i don't (and only God does). but whether it be my hematologist, obgyn, optometrist and now dentist, i can't tell them why my hypereosynaphilia is so rare and why i was born with it. cause it is and i just was. i like to think i'm special? or, the one i like better, is that the Lord has shown Himself quite powerful in my life. though not "healed", He has always had His healing hand on me. the feeling and comfort of that is indescribable.

next, we did some usual errands in an unusual way, enjoyably not rushed - bank, walmart, the glorious taste of jamba juice (heaven!), costco - and then we took an unexpected play at the park. jessa made a new friend and learned about the ownership of cats and dogs. snack time. check. jessa chose where the car took us next. she chose michaels to look at "a little bit of stamps and a little bit of paper" (i had absolutely zero persuasion). man, i love that girl! jacob and miley took a nap in the warm car while we lingered the craft store with no real mission. it was nice. i spent a whole dollar on a stamp and jessa picked out some ariel stickers. how in the world does an hour go by when it only feels like twenty minutes? holy moses, we were in there for a long time! at least some good zzz's were caught while we wasted time. *just to clarify - the car was not too warm, windows were down and miley was never left alone in the car while sleeping*

i think the best part of the day came at our next stop. we've always wanted to take the girls to the pet and feed shop in hopes of seeing puppies and kitties. sure enough, jess immediately became connected with a little cocker spaniel pup. she was so happy that he wanted to play with her and he even said "bye" with a bark. she wouldn't stop mentioning how cute he was and how maybe she "could get him after dallas. just maybe." after ooing and ahhing at the snakes, fish, guinea pigs, tarantulas, turtles, lizards, bunnies and black widows, it was our cue to leave when an employee started telling us that "all kinds of things have escaped. there are so many things running around this place." "even tarantulas?" we unwillingly questioned. "oh yeah. a little of everything" she chuckled back. yeeeah, we didn't find it too funny. one more peek at the cobras and we were out.

after picking up a movie (bedtime stories) for viewing later in the week, we headed to some friend's house that we haven't been to in over two years, i'm thinking. jess and miley had a great time with their boys. and seriously, their 3 year old could totally model children's place or cover some ridiculously cute kid's magazine. he is such a doll! our friend was so thoughtful in thinking about my lack of chewing skills and made an awesome lentil soup {thank you so much for your thoughtfulness!}.

our mini vacation was over when our car entered the garage at about 10:15 pm. it was such a great day...i think there are some supernatural powers to a sunshiny day! has anyone else just had some completely awesome and uplifting days lately?!

some pictures to leave you with...
