they build a house with their four hands in their eighties and make me think,
how have i used my hands for a hard day's work today?

they are by each other's side through every circumstance and make me think,
what have i done for my marriage today?

they laugh at the future and make me think,
when can i find joy in every little detail today?

they open their lives to everyone and make me think,
why can't i be more transparent today?

every smile shows a wrinkle of experience. a defined line of wisdom. joy. love. they amaze me with their faith in trial. in sickness. in challenge. their world is an open window of possibility as each day passes. and i don't want to forget to mention just how stinkin' adorable these two are. i secretly wish that jacob grows old just like grandpa. i see the resemblance and it makes me smile. grandpa passed on his incredible-never-stop-working work ethic and handsomely-rugged good looks. *wink. not to mention his infectious laugh. i like to think we have a silver lining to our future growing old together because of what has been imparted. a line of steadfast devotion and commitment.
