i totally want to give up. i don't even want to try anymore. i'm tired of hunting for good things to eat, for something tasty to drink that's not filled with bubblies or toxin amounts of sugar.
but i won't. i can't. it's really not even an option.
the real problem?
i want to see results now. i hardly doubt i'm the only one floating in my trying-to-be-healthier boat. but for me, when i've been trying for over a month now and things haven't been melting off like, well...the first week? it easily gets old and a bit boring. it was fun in the beginning, almost like a challenging game. now it just feels like going to work everyday. boooring.
now that i've completely and utterly felt sorry for myself and complained about every thing that's not really worth complaining about, i'm done. not with my healthy choices. with the whole whining about the healthy choices. i should just be thankful that i have choice, no?
and now, my prayer for today...
Lord,
You are majestic. You are holy. You are giving. just. merciful. compassionate. never-ending. You are worthy. You are love. life.
thank You for providing a current job for my husband in this current state of work. as the unemployment rises, i am reminded of Your faithfulness. most of all, i know that if we fell into job loss, You would remain faithful to no end.
thank You for putting food in our mouth. for covering us with warm blankets at night. for putting a solid roof above our heads. thank You for the things i daily take for granted. for the things that go unnoticed, but that i completely can't go without every day.
thank You for friendships that last. for new ones that bloom. for seasoned ones that stay constant. thank You for being my ultimate buddy. for Your arm around me in embrace when i'm sad. for times that it seems i have no one else. You are there.
thank you for the bond and connection of family. thank you for the struggles that make us stronger. the challenges that bring us closer. thank you that when i wake up, i wake up to two beautiful girls smiling back at me. for one handsome husband that always has a sweet word to say. You are amazing with the way you brought us together. You wrote our story. Your pen is still hard at work. and i am so grateful.
Lord, i pray for continued trust. for peace in seemingly uncertain times. i pray that i won't go crazy with the thought of moving across this nation to learn how to better serve You and Your people. give me the tools i need in every circumstance. a heart to love. hands to serve. an attitude that is willing. give my husband a mind of knowledge and wisdom to absorb what will be taught. give my girls comfort as their worlds will change in a big way. give my arms strength to provide that comfort from You. You are holy.
thank you, Lord, for being present in our every day.
amen.
You are such a beautiful writer. No. You are not the only one in the boat. We are reading Exodus in our Groth Group and I was thinking: "I bet they didn't have to worry about calories and carbs and stuff. Then it hit me. God gave them their daily bread (and quail). I have been given my daily bread and then some! Keep up the good work of being healthy.
ReplyDeletebeth moore said something once in a video bible study my mom was doing (& making me watch) that i'll never forget. she was talking about how much trouble she was having finding time to stay healthy admist her busy life/schedule/family...& she stopped. and reflected.
ReplyDeleteand then she told all of us to make your morning workouts your TIME OF PRAISE. with each stride forward on your walk, praise Him. with each step on the stair climber, chant his Psalms in your head. she said she bought a Bible on tape & listened to it--not allowing herself to get off the stairclimber or treadmill or stop walking until the book/chapter was over.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE WOMAN?!?!?
something must be working for her :)
keep up the faith...& remember that no matter what, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
I've told you before, but again I agree with Angie -- you are an amazing writer. I so enjoy reading your blogs!
