i just had one of the best times shopping. my mama came into town for the custer arts and crafts show (which is always super fabulous - they did not disappoint this year). it always feels great to buy handmade, which is apparently the trend on blogging this year as well. to support our local artists and creative geniuses. i was able to do a little christmas shopping and found a plate i wanted to buy two years ago. it's a really cute "your special day" plate for the girls from a local hand painted pottery business. i saw it the first time i went to the craft show, went back a little later to buy it and it was gone. so i made it a point to pick it up and i was so excited to find it. yippee!
my mama headed home already. she was in town for a quick, very fun day and a half. the time always speeds by and leaves me anticipating the next visit. which is only in four days! have i mentioned HOW EXCITED i am for thanksgiving? cause if you couldn't tell already...
i was telling my mama that for me, thanksgiving day starts at 10:00 am. probably because that's when the first football game kicks off. that's also when the celery sticks with peanut butter, olives, chips, dip and oodles of snack stuff makes its appearance. that's when you don't even pay attention to what you're eating or how full you start getting. it doesn't matter, keep shoveling. the turkey smell has already started filling the air and wafting to every crevice of the house. my favorite dish on the table of festivities is mashed potatoes, stuffing and dark meat turkey. i could eat that for the many days following. it makes a good late night thanksgiving snack too.
and then, we all know what follows...
black friday!
are you REALLY braving the spokies on black friday? and i must know what stores are on your list...
ReplyDeletehere in NC the only store i'm planning on going to is hobby lobby to buy scrapbook paper :) other than that, i am sort of fearing for my life with the crazies that live here. (not to mention the fact that i'm sick of spending money).
AND i've been meaning to tell you that it is QUITE ridiculous that you are leaving because i WANT TO GO THRIFTING WITH YOU. we would certainly include starbucks on that trip....geez.
