i've gone out of control. the girls and i have a new obsession. i guess i can't blame them too much. a little young for obsessions, i suppose. so it's all on me. the last two days i have taken them all around town to the thrift stores. i think i only missed one in the area. five hours this morning was pushing it, but they did awesome! why did i go so thrift crazy right after having a yard sale? hmm...more room maybe?
i found a few goodies at fabulous prices. my favorite yesterday was a disney princess vanity for jess (of course) with a little princess stool to match. she did her "cinderella happy dance" right there in goodwill. no joke. i gave it a good lysol scrub when we got home and it looks brand new. seriously. the light action, music sounds and folding doors/drawers all work perfectly. she's still doing her happy dance over it today.
i haven't done any shopping of any kind for the last month or so. pretty impressive, eh'? with getting ready for the yard sale, i wanted to purge as much as possible. now i've done enough damage to have another sale. ok...maybe not that bad. and most of it was little fall clothes for jess and miss miley (who happens to be tapping my arm on the couch as we speak - little attention maybe? - so cute!). lots of little toys for miley for only $.25 (fisher price, playskool, v-tech). even if she doesn't play with them, it's my way of contributing to the bargain center community. there's that voice of justification popping onto my right shoulder. poof!
so these two days have been spent digging through books, searching through clothes and anti-bacterializing our hands. also, take note - target is having a massive clearance on toys right now. they are almost empty, but their deals are...how should i put it - dangerous? a perfect time to find birthday gifts for little friends or even early bird christmas treasures.
i've enjoyed my girls immensely as they've trudged their way with me through stop after stop. they practiced their patience with me like i've never seen before. i think i'm good for awhile. at least until i head "home" to visit family and stay with my sister-in-law for a whole week. that should be totally exciting. whoo-hoo for shopping with sisters!
welp, there it is. my confession. a confession of a narotic thrift store shopper. it's true. however, i have known worse. and you know who you are. :) and there are others of you that i want to get hooked like myself. so watch yourself...
sidenote: my question of the day - why does miley always know when i'm using the bathroom and persist on screaming her head off? just curious...
tip of the day - for a great "kid's night out" or "mommy and me time", use a coupon from pizza hut in the coupon clippers for a "buy one get one free personal pan pizza". this works great for lunchtime too. for jess and me, this is a favorite. mostly, it's fun to enjoy pizza out just because with the kiddos.
When I lived in Seattle I loved thrifting! I use to think I was going to have a business selling on ebay but I ended up keeping everything so I had to cut myself off. It sounds like you had fun!
ReplyDeletealright lady...lets see some of those treasures :) i was actually going to get up & go yard-saleing this morning BUT i was wacked in the head by the reality that (a) i will get lost being that the "direction" part of my brain was never installed and (b) i live in the armpit of north caroline where the "junk" at yard sales & thrift stores really is "JUNK".
