expectant.

it was a message i heard on my first mother's day. jessa bean was only a few months old and i felt ready to receive all the glorious wisdom my new little mama brain could hold. i sat in that pew {yes, a pew...pre-fancy-church-chairs} with great expectation. and you wanna know what that sermon was about...?...e-x-p-e-c-t-a-t-i-o-n-s. ha! it was one for the books all right. i even requested a copy burned onto a dvd {man, i'm making myself sound really, really old}. i still think about that message so often. i don't even recall the details of the message; unless i take my cd and pop it into my disc man to be reminded. but what is remembered is the most important thing that floods my mind when i need it - God will never disappoint. expect and be expectant in Him because He cannot and will not fail. expectations aren't the problem...where and what value we place on them is the true issue because it reveals our heart attitude. do i expect based out of my circumstance or do i expect from God despite my circumstance? it seems like such a simple concept, but walkin' it out proves to be a little more complicated, am i right?

my new mama heart left encouraged and humbled. it was one of those moments that quickly infiltrated my thought process as i lived out my day to day walk. it still moves me to be expectant of a God that never changes. my hope rests in Him alone and that is an expectation worth taking to the bank!

be blessed,

beth
