is this thing on?

an entry from june 1, 2011:

i can't believe i'm skipping out on one of the most glorious afternoon gifts a mom could ask for to attempt to resurrect something that has been lost for oh so long. my nap is calling and i'm not answering.

i have to admit that since i haven't been writing on my blog i also haven't been blog reading...like, at all. just now, i jumped over to ness' little world to see what's going on and i found all kinds of fun over there. i saw summer lists and a growing baby and cowboy campbell and realized how much i'm missing out. not only am i missing out on the lives that are being lived in which i can be a part of virtually, but i'm missing out on sharing our little pieces of life with you. so, to help breathe life into this blotched blog, let me start with a few major moments...ready?

since our return from WA in early january {which still has not produced pictures - #fail} we have had family visitors, mission weeks, job changes, broken bones, big news, strep, ear infections, flu bugs, which results in plenty of dr visits, finished semesters, reading accomplishments, pool parties, birthday celebrations, anniversaries, retreats, mini vaca's, and holiday hooplas {what?!}.

-returning from our two month home visit, j started a new job at our church as the small groups coordinator. as i mentioned this before, it has offered a totally different schedule for our family life and put him home almost every evening. i call that a blessing! it took some getting used to having him work from home every. single. day. {with some still small adjustments here and there} but we're learning day by day to offer a little more grace as our 900 sq ft home, that is also an elementary school, amongst other things, also becomes part office. it's not always easy, people. i'm just sayin'. but worth it. definitely worth it.

-my main squeeze wrapped up his spring semester AND already completed his summer courses in the span of two weeks. you know what this means? we have the WHOLE summer to play! and work. but NO school...ahhh! i'm just a little bit excited to relax together, {hopefully} get back on my feet, connect as a family and maybe even make one of those summer lists. j said we should write down 8 things we want to do as a family this summer and i think that's a great idea! what would be on your family list {besides swimming, of course}? oh, and did i mention, big j turned 30!

-little, sweet, peanut sized miley turned 3 in march! she's still just a teeny roasted peanut, but so full of life. her big personality has us listening to endless stories and ideas by taking us on safari adventures with her imagination to see tigers and alligators {her favorite!}. she loves dancing and has made up her own toddler yoga - trust me, i have no idea where this came from, but her stretching and poses look quite professional for a wee one. hilarious, really. a few months ago we took a late night/early morning visit to the er with little m {for strep} which blossomed a new love for doctors. she squeals with excitement when we have to go to the dr and is always trying to get me to take her because of her "ouchy throat or tummy". i can bet she doesn't remember her two year old shots...that produced squeals of a different nature.

-while we're on the topic of the er and doctors, it's been an eventful several months for jessa as well. six weeks ago she broke her elbow while playing at mcdonalds on the playground. i learned a lot from little j about being brave and how to get dressed with only one arm. without question, she picked out a bright pink cast and had everyone-who-is-someone sign it...including the king at medieval times! she even wore a pretty sporty cast cover when we surprised them on our trip to great wolf lodge {a big indoor water park/hotel}. i can't believe our gorgeous girl just finished kindergarten and is eager to start first grade with her growing knowledge of reading. she's definitely a superstar in my book. it's been a joy to teach her one on one and watch her gain the confidence she needs to keep going.

it's been a wild few months as we comfortably settle into 2011 with it almost half way gone already {how did that happen?!}. let's hope this means more to come and more stories to tell.
