for hours, i've been pouring over old journal entries, intrigued with the thoughts of a young girl. most of the time, i can't recall writing those words that are obviously mine, but i'm left with a picture of who she was at sixteen. and then again at seventeen. words painted until the day she met her {future} husband at nineteen and fell completely in love.
at sixteen, a scribbled 'p.s.',
"i also pray for my husband and the security he has in you and that it may grow and he be blessed abundantly!"
again, on the verge of seventeen,
"something i haven't done in awhile is pray for my husband. no matter where he is, i pray he is making wise choices that are pleasing to you. let him know i am thinking of him and that i already love him with all of my heart."
this is where it started for me. my life was being re-lived through these pages of yesterday. vivid details of my first homecoming, passing my driver's test, camping with the family, struggling alongside friends, cliff jumping, holidays, birthday celebrations, my best friend leaving for college, emotional breakdowns, challenging situations and discovering who i was was all a part of my journey. a journey filled with dreams, daily whims of love and a heartbeat that followed after God.
"...what do you think about when you watch a sunrise? when i look, my mind takes off with me, but the first thing i think about is giving thanks to God for such beauty in His creation. just imagine, when God looks at us He finds us far more beautiful than the brightest sunrise, wishes us to be more free than the bluest sky and shine more bright with His love than the sun. i love Him for everything he has given me, all the friends He's placed in my life and the new opportunities He presents us with everyday..." {a youth group talk excerpt @ 17}
{to be continued...}
