i was totally looking forward to today. i took jessa down to myah's house, dropped her off, picked up kristi (myah's mommy) and baby olivia and headed out to old navy and kohl's to do a little shopping. two moms with their two babies. things looked optimistic.
until...
i don't even need to talk about olivia's tiny squeals in the old navy dressing room because quite frankly, they don't even come close in comparison to miley's tantrums in the kohl's dressing room. oh, and in kohl's aisles. and check out. and parking lot. i would hold her...screaming. i would give her fishy crackers...screaming. and choking. i would push her around all fun-like...screaming. and remember, she is usually just a perfect peach to go shopping with. oh! and get this! i even had a kohl's employee come up to my dressing room, knock and ask if everything was ok in there. umm...no ma'am, i'm just busy beating my kid? i mean, seriously. i remained calm and after about ten minutes of not being able to get out of the shirt i was trying on because of a cranky baby cradled in my arms, i briskly {and still calmly} proceeded out of the fitting room area.
why this litt...err, gargantuan episode? i generally don't use teeth as a reason to ill behavior, but this time, it's true. her first top front tooth popped through mid last week and the same thing happened in her attitude. but that time we were at home. phew. the second tooth is in the exact same position and nothing can calm her down. she cries in her sleep which means tonight will probably be a very long night. poor baby keeps crying off and on back in her crib now.
kristi said it perfectly as we were leaving kohl's, "i think this is one of those days where you just say you're having a 'mom day'." yes, exactly. i'm spending my timeout sipping a diet cherry coke on ice and munching on a {smallish} bag of flamin' hot cheetos. i need a deep breath. miley needs a good nap. and i think jessa needs a new set of ears from our very loud ride home.
wow, ok, i am SO there with you! except i wasn't in kohl's. Abby already has 7 teeth, but this last week she decided to work on the last of her front bottom teeth (1) AND her "12 month" molars- the lower ones, and yes they are both coming in at the same time. i remember those top ones though...not fun. nice to know there are others out there having the same week i am :) hang in there and don't forget the Tylenol and Motrin! and have you tried the Orajel swabs? those and the natural teething tablets are good for helping them settle and be able to get to sleep.
