sweet victory.

ok. seriously. i absolutely am head over heels for this time of year. yes, i would marry it if i could. i called toys r' us today to once again, hunt down miley's christmas present. if you didn't know already, i am an extremely early shopper. i just can't stand the holiday bugs that tickle me with excitement. after hunting and scavenging every toy aisle known to man, i was ecstatic to hear that they had it.it's finally in my possession. and i only had to spend a little more than i anticipated. if i happen to find it for a whole heck of a lot cheaper closer to christmas, then i will just take myself down to return it. because unfortunately, they don't price compete. lame, i know.

this weekend just happened to be a big sale at the famous toy store. it gave me a glimpse of what to expect on black friday. just a teeny weeny, itsy bitsy peek of the lines. the grumpy people. the frustrated frazzled employees. the mess of sale signs and scattered toys. and ooohh man, did it make me even more excited. the famed and renowned shopping day is more anticipated by me than my own birthday.

and my dad. oh, my dad. he is such a gem. we have started our own tradition that has been going for three or four years now. he rises early with me. and i mean 4:30 am early. he takes me to get coffee. he grabs a cart for me. if none are available, he becomes my cart. he waits in line for me, holding a spot. he runs down the aisles with me (this happened one year as a total joke - i think sears is still talking about it?). i have never ever heard a grump-of-a-word come out of his mouth about the crowds. or the lines. or the amount of time we wait for one toy. i know he does it for me. he knows how much it means to me. and it does. i love it so much and look forward to it every year. it is never the same when he's not there in his camo and black painted face - ok, we're not that serious. or are we? so dad, looks like you get to come to the great big city of dallas to do our black friday shopping next year. *smiles.
