oh the thinks you can think!

i've been re-introduced to thrift store shopping. it's been too long since i've been and it just never crosses my mind to check them first. i have a good friend who goes all the time and always finds the cutest and coolest things! she knows how to hit them right. true story: she bought a pair of jeans, not recognizing the brand, for like $1.99 in perfect condition, possibly even still tagged. she got home and googled the brand name and it was a $170 dollar pair of jeans that was on oprah's favorite-list last year. crazy!

well, this is my new favorite: going book crazy! childrens' books for jess. it is so much fun to dig through the shelves and shelves of books! some of the favorites i've heard, like, are you my mother?, corduroy, the chocolate bunny, franklin runs away, mr. brown can moo. can you?...lots of sweet golden books and any other classic dr. seuss. it's endless what you can find. call me crazy, but i kind of like the look of used books. at least, used children's books. especially the really old ones, they almost make great decor pieces up on an easel for their room.

so, i have gone a bit wild the last two days and have purchased some 40+ books for her. most costing about $.25-$.50 each. and i've only hit two of the local thrift stores. i hit two garage sales too. finding most of my dr. seuss for $.10 a piece. sweeet! it beats paying $9.95 for a book that may not have been in the hands of a little one yet. i'll take it. and little j' just loves the new collection. she can sit for hours and make stacks of books and read through all of them. she makes up her own stories and even songs as she's flipping the pages to her own rythmn. i'm excited to find some new favorites and continue this new hunting adventure...
